The Red Light Revue has been Maine's Premier R & B band since it was founded by
bandleader and guitarist Mike Hayward in 1986. The band has been featured at such venues as
The Edmunton Blues and Jazz Festival, The Mad River Blues and Jazz Festival, The Old Port Festival
and has sat in or opened for such reknown international acts such as Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Ray Charles, Koko Taylor,
Albert Collins, BB King, Roomful of Blues, James Montgomery, Brian Setzer
and countless others at local and regional Nightclubs. Guitarist Mike Hayward has also played with such artists as Cub Koda ( Brownsville Station), The King B's and
saxophone player John Houston at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1989.
The Red Light Revue specializes in weddings, corporate & private functions and nightclubs and has won such awards as
The Portland Press Herald's reader Poll as
"Portland's Best Dance Band",The Maine Music Awards "Best R & B Band",
and recently The Portland Phoenix "Best Local Dance Band "
The band features a three peice horn section and maintains the smoking, energetic big band blues sound.
Mike Hayward lays down the soulful guitar, while the rhthym section of bassist Justin Maxwell and drummer Marty Joyce keep the beat. The horns are supplied by Adam Montminy
on tenor sax, Lisa Hamlin on baritone sax and Matt Lawson on trumpet.
