Caught in the Act
Face Magazine
by Maurice Harter
Got Roots ?
"Next the Red Light Revue threw the Festival into overdrive with an electrifying set of classic jazz-blues
tunes by the likes of Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Little Walter and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Tight

blues tunes like "Sugar Coated Love" and "Shaky Ground" inspired swing dancing by a few self un-self-conscious couples.
The Revue plays The Big Easy in Portland every Wednesday night and are definately worth catching"

Best Local Dance Band
Portland Phoenix

Red Light Revue
Playing the R&B is about paying dues, passionately immersing oneself in a diverse
community and rich heritage, and showing no quarter or comprimise. It's a tough row to hoe, but for
the members of Portland's Red Light Revue, the extra effort seems well worth it.

The band is led by guitarist Mike Hayward, a workingman's musician, a la G.E.Smith, who handles his instrument
as adeptly as Picasso handled a pencil."

A Vision of Rhythm & Blues
by Beverly Gabe
FACE
R&B... To many these words conjur up smokey visions of old black men playing beat up guitars and bemoaning the fact that their women have left them or their dogs have died.
To the members of the Red Light Revue this image is as disputable as the decision made by the US Postal Service to snatch Robert Johnsons cigarette from his lips to sanatize his stamps likeness.
"When these guys are playing the real Chicago Blues, they're not bummed. Their happy. It's party music to them, " says Mike Hayward, guitarist, vocalist and manager of the Red Light Review.
The band has been playing its own personal mix of rhthym and blues music for the Portland area since the spring of 1986...
